With Sylvi Belleau and Capitain Bonnefemme
Sylvi Belleau: Storyteller, playwright, trainer and actress, Sylvi has been sharing her passion for storytelling with young audiences for over 30 years. She founded Festilou, a youth storytelling festival, in 2010 and has directed the Théâtre de la Source since 1985. She has written a dozen professionally produced plays for young audiences. With La Culture at school, she has been leading workshops in schools since 1995. Her book Grindel et le bouc de Noël was published in 2013. A doctoral student in performing and screen arts at Laval University, she holds a master's degree in drama from UQAM.
Captain Bonnefemme
Captain Bonnefemme (Nicole Fournier): Her years of experience on ships largely inspire Captain Bonnefemme (Nicole Fournier) to create her tales. She tells them in schools, festivals etc. She also offers workshops of one to three hours, in French and English and is listed in the "Répertoire de culture à l'école" of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications, Québec.

Youth Storytelling Workshop
Location: Ottawa Public Library, Sunnyside Branch (1049 Bank St, Ottawa)
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Dates: Saturdays, January 21 – May 14, 2023

January 21st - March 18 (8 sessions + performance); March 25th- May 14 (8 sessions+ performance)

Everyone has a story. Some of us have 1001 stories! Marie Victoria and Brad will introduce you to the art of storytelling. How do you find a story to tell? Shape the story? Present the story in a way that others want to listen?
The workshop will weave in the use of digital media: as both a learning tool and a promotional tool.

Marie Victoria Robertson
Marie loves funny and lively stories and hopes she’ll make you smile! A member of Ottawa StoryTellers since 2018, Marie has shared her stories on stage, in festivals, in classrooms, and at her workplace. And she has led workshops in these same locations, and more!
“I spent my youth writing books about magical carrots, collecting ingredients to make winter potion, and pretending I was on a spaceship. I've performed at Fringe Festivals Across Canada, and here in Ottawa at the Arts Court Theatre, Shenkman Arts Centre, and the National Arts Centre. I love shows that make people laugh.”
Brad Denys
Brad quite literally ran away to the circus – and he travelled around the world with Cirque du Soleil. Brad has performed as an actor, dancer, clown, musician and storyteller.
He has been a choreographer, a stage manager and a stage performance-coach.
