About the Workshop

We’ll play with stories we know and maybe find new ones. No experience required. Put on your seven-league boots and catch us on Zoom for a walk through our nation. ‘Canadian’ can mean many different things for different people at different times. The power of stories is to bring us closer to each other, echoing voices from the past and from other worlds. Join our 7 tellers and our 2 co-hosts for a journey through lands and languages...

From the birth of the butterfly,

From Ireland, to China, going through India.

From Russia to a remote farm in Manitoba and a small village in New Brunswick.

Let the voice of our tellers raise your spirit and cheer you up!

 

This concert will feature Aurore Liang (QC), Carol-Leigh Wehking (ON), Gaurav Madan (NL), Leigh-Ann Kehler (MB), Matricia Brown (AB), Max-Emilien Robichaud (QC), and Rachel Dunstan Muller (BC). Co-hosted by Chantal Chagnon (AB) and Cheyda Haramein (NB)

The date of this event is Friday, November 26, 7 pm.   
This will be an in-person event at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville BC



SC-CC member Cathy Miyata is looking for research participants!

Storytellers! Dr. Cathy Miyata will be conducting a research study this fall on exploring how storytelling is being used with children (3- 17 yrs) during COVID 19. Is it helping? How and why? (She can provide free resources -including videos and activities- on storytelling for anyone interested). The research project is called Storytelling in Uncertain Times. Cathy invites you to participate in this project by engaging students in storytelling activities, then completing a short survey and/or brief 30 minute remote interview. Identities of all participants will remain confidential. If you are interested in participating in this study please contact Cathy before November 30, 2021 for further details: cmiyata@wlu.ca

THAT REMINDS ME OF A STORY 1 - Exploring Stories Through Treasured Objects


In this workshop participants will explore in a story circle a rich trove of memories associated with a specific object, and then craft a short written story that emerges from that exploration.
