Call for Proposals

Storytellers of Canada – Conteurs du Canada is seeking proposals from experienced professional storytellers for the next SC-CC conference, which will be held in Halifax Nova Scotia from June 18 - 22, 2025 at Saint Mary's University. We are looking for artists to perform in two evening concerts and to deliver Master classes and/or workshops reflecting the diversity inherent to oral tradition. We will also be offering a virtual conference package that includes access to live-streamed concerts, presentations, and a selection of online-only workshops.

We’re excited to announce that the next SC-CC Conference will be in Halifax from June 18-22, 2025!

The theme of the Halifax Conference will be 'Roots and Branches: celebrating shared heritage and cultural linkages old and new.'

So, come east and enjoy many stories, much music and dancing filled with east coast charm and excitement. 

The conference will have plenty of stories with concerts, workshops, swaps and casual opportunities to share. We will have field trips and chances to explore a bit of both Halifax and Dartmouth. 

And the best part is meeting other storytellers from across the country and beyond!

As a bonus, explore our beautiful province by including a family vacation or a road trip to create memories and stories to last a lifetime.

Storytellers of Canada - Conteurs du Canada 2024 Conference | July 10 - 14 in Sherbrooke, Quebec

We are thrilled to share that our 2024 Conference will be taking place in Sherbrooke, Quebec at Bishop's University from July 10th-14th, 2024. The theme for our 2024 Conference will be ‘Harmony’. This is a time to connect with nature, with one another, and with yourself in the beautiful setting of Quebec’s Eastern Townships.

Storytellers of Canada - Conteurs du Canada 2023 Conference 

May 31 to June 4 in Sudbury, Ontario

The conference theme for 2023 is: "A penny for your thought, a nickel for a story." In every culture, stories are full of wisdom, and make us reflect on our role, our hopes and our memories. In 2023, we will gather at the centre of the universe, in Sudbury, to share stories from all over the world and spread their beauty around!

SC-CC’s annual conference is back in May 2022! Join us in Parksville British Columbia at the Tigh-na-mara resort from May 24th to 29th for a long overdue conference and reunion.

The 2020 Annual Conference in Parksville, British Columbia, which was scheduled for May 27 to 31, is cancelled. 

For those who have already registered:

Join us in Edmonton, Alberta, May 22-28 2017 to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday, and SC-CC's 25th anniversary!

The 2016 SC-CC Conference will be held at University of British Columbia in Vancouver on July 8th, 9th, and 10th, with a Master Class on July 11th. There will be pre-conference programming (concerts and Storywalks) and on-site registration and check in, on July 6th and 7th.

July 2 to 5, 2015, join the Storytellers of Canada in Lévis, Quebec

Wednesday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 6th in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the Land of Stories.

The conference committee worked throughout snowstorms this winter to prepare a memorable conference in the heart of the federal capital, on the campus of Saint Paul University.

The Conference took place at the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. The Conference was from August 2 to 5, 2012 (with pre-conference activities from July 30).
