Raconteurs & The Ethnic Aisle

2016-06-20

Join us on June 29th!

Are you tired of hearing Toronto is the most diverse city in the world, only to be bombarded with the same voices, ideas and flavour of news and commentary on every website, newspaper, TV channel and radio station. It's boring, right? This month, we want real talk stories about multiculturalism in the GTA, thirty years to six months after Trudeau.

Raconteurs Storytelling & The Ethnic Aisle are joining together to present an evening of storytelling along this mandate: true, personal stories told live on stage exploring multiculturalism and identity in this city.

The Ethnic Aisle is an online magazine interested in the thoughts of mouthy bloggers, journalists and everyday people who actually hail from those mysterious diverse communities you hear so much about when being told the Greater Toronto Area is the most diverse spot in the world. Its focus: race, ethnicity and ethnicity. Our spaces are a clearing house for personal reflections on how non-white, non-newcomer identities affect our views of what happens in this city. We comment on news, pick apart each others arguments and muse on the broader picture.

DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE? Raconteurs stories must be true, have happened to you personally, and be 7-10 minutes in length. If you have a story to share, please send a brief 3-4 sentence pitch tosubmissions@raconteurs.ca!
