Conversations (with Christine) is a series of informal Zoom chats hosted by SC-CC President Christine Hennebury that will bring storytellers together to share (and to create) collective wisdom about stories and storytelling practices. The purpose of these chats is to build community and to share information so we aren’t trying to come to a specific conclusion or to develop an action plan, this is just about conversation!
Please join us to chat about your tried-and-true techniques/the things you are exploring and let’s see what new ideas we come up with together. Registration is required. These events are open to everyone- members and non-members alike! Please spread the word with your storytelling friends!
What’s your favourite way to start a story? How do you know when you’ve reached the end? What gets included in the middle? Our first conversation in this series is about story structure - how we work our way in and out of the details of our tales and make sure everything makes sense along the way.
How detailed are your descriptions? How specific do you get with times/dates/locations? Do you change the details of your stories to match your audiences? Our second conversation will focus on the ways we enrich our stories with descriptions and details to help them come alive for our listeners.
Are you trying to find just the right story for an upcoming event? Are you working on a story but can’t get one piece to come together? Are you interested in playing with story ideas and making some stuff up? Our third conversation will include some story games and a brainstorming session where we talk about our stories - plans, ideas, and tricky spots - and have fun helping each other figure stuff out.
