Facilitated by Michael Williams and Greg Kennedy

“Stories are told eye to eye, mind to mind, and heart to heart.” ~ a Traveller proverb

On countless occasions, Michael Williams has experienced the remarkable power of story and storytelling. In a drop-in center for teenagers challenged by homelessness, addiction, and violence, he saw how an old fable transfixed them and gave them hope for a better future. In an olive grove on a piece of no-man’s land between a Palestinian refugee camp and an Israeli settlement, he witnessed the power of sharing personal stories to overcome hostility and mistrust and bring people together.

For more than 20 years, Michael has been a performing storyteller and workshop facilitator with an interest in the healing power of story. Whether working with individuals or communities, storytelling has the power to bring people together and encourage dialogue and mutual understanding. Stories help us make sense of the world and connect us to something greater.

For Michael, that connection is a form of spiritual communion. When we open ourselves to listening to someone’s story with compassion and non-judgement, that is a form of love. This is why, over the years, he has come to accept storytelling as his spiritual practice. During this day retreat, you also will practice the arts of both listening to and telling the stories that deepen and inspirit your life.

No experience of storytelling is required. Simply bring your open ears, open mind, and open heart.
