ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
In the first hour, we will explore location-based audio (GPS-triggered smartphone apps etc.) as a tool for site-specific projects that focus on traditional oral storytelling. In the second hour participants will learn how to create a collaborative digital storytelling map and have the opportunity to craft a short audio story using a cell phone—a story that contemplates the emotional dimension of our pandemic reality.
ABOUT DAVID
David Merleau is an independent media artist, performance storyteller and radio producer. His award winning location-based audio storytelling app, Forest Talk Radio fuses folklore and ecology to unravel the mysteries of forest environments, and his upcoming project the AntVenture app, gives you an ant’s eye view of your own neighbourhood with the help of your cellphone. He has lectured on “locative radio-theatre” in the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College in London UK, and he is currently involved with SuperCluster.eu to design workshops and other curriculum that foster international “locative arts” collaborations.
