Call for proposals, "The Talking Stick" Special Storyfire event Friday, March 24, 2017 1001 Friday Nights of Storytelling again will be participating in the Toronto Festival of Storytelling’s Storyfire sessions. We will hold our event, The Talking Stick, on March 24, 2017, at our usual Innis College Café location, from 8pm to 10pm. This will not be our regular open-mic, but will be a curated evening of stories told by selected 1001 Friday Night tellers. We are now accepting applications and would like to include as many tellers as possible for the evening, so please ensure that your story is no more than 10 minutes long. To participate as a teller on this evening your story should be: – a folktale, a legend, a myth, a personal or literary tale, or a ballad or narrative poem Preference will be given to, but not limited to: – a tale you haven’t recently told at 1001 Nights – those who did not tell at last year’s event As part of your application please send to storyfire@1001fridays.org: – the title of your story – a very brief outline of the tale – the exact time for the length of your story – your name Applications should be sent in the body of the email, rather than as an attachment. Last date for applications: January 16, 2017 Please note: this will be a curated event programmed by Goldie Spencer and Karen Blair. The participants selected will be required to participate in a rehearsal/feedback session some weeks before the event. This will assist us in arranging a telling order to make the performance flow smoothly. |
