World Tales Live At Bennington College
World Tales Live At Bennington College by Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder (Audiocassette) Eastern Coyote Productions, 1997. ECP 121J, 60 mins.
This is the best tandem telling that I have ever heard. The tellers share true narration back and forth, then speak together, then talk over each other and always the timing is impeccable. I laughed out loud with the live audience in the first story, felt the chill of horror in the second story, was calmed by the third, and tapped my foot to the concertina and harp music in between stories.
The three stories on the tape are: White Bear, Juniper Tree, and the lesser known Hindus story, Toe Bone. Jennings and Ponder have put their own mark on the stories in their re-tellings, making this CD even more of a treasure.
The quality of the recording is not studio quality, but once I turned the player up it was fine and I no longer noticed the very slightly hollow sound. This minor flaw should not keep you from buying and enjoying this excellent storytelling experience.
Recommended for older children and adults.
