St. John's Storytelling Festival
St. John’s Storytelling is a not-for-profit organization that has been active in the Newfoundland and Labrador storytelling community since 2004 –first under the guidance of the St.John’s Folk Arts Council (now the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society),and as of 2007, as an independent, provincially incorporated entity. St. John’s Storytelling hosts storytelling performances, workshops, and school programming year round. During non-Covid times, they host an annual Festival in the fall that brings together local, national, and international storytelling talent to stages around St. John's.
St. John’s Storytelling showcases Newfoundland and Labrador storytellers, facilitates exchange between visiting and local storytellers, and contributes to the development of new storytellers in the province. SJS hosts a monthly Storytelling Circle and has run a School Touring Project which organized workshops and concerts for students and teachers in various schools across the province.
