Call for proposals for the Storytellers of Canada 2024 Conference
July 10th to 14th, in Sherbrooke, Quebec
Storytellers of Canada – Conteurs du Canada is seeking proposals from experienced professional storytellers for the next SC-CC conference, which will be held in Sherbrooke, Quebec, at Bishop’s University, from July 10th-14th, 2024. We are looking for artists to perform in one evening concert and to deliver Master classes and/or workshops reflecting the diversity inherent to oral tradition. New for 2024, we’ll be offering a virtual conference package that includes access to live-streamed concerts, presentations, and a selection of online-only workshops.
The conference theme for 2024 is ‘Harmony’. This is a time to connect with nature, with one another, and with yourself, in the beautiful setting of Quebec’s Eastern Townships. Although our theme is ‘Harmony’, for the concert we will be looking for story proposals that have tension and struggle, yet end with a peaceful resolution that leave the listener with a sigh of contentment.
Important notes:
If you want to submit more than one proposal, or the same proposal in different languages, you will need to submit separate proposals for each one.
If you want to submit the same workshop for consideration as an online workshop and an in person workshop, you must submit them separately and select the appropriate proposal type in the submission form.
There is no subsidy available for travel or accommodation costs for conference presenters. We encourage artists to apply independently to Arts Councils for this support. A letter of acceptance will be available by request for any artist selected for the conference.
You can submit your proposals in French or in English. We especially encourage bilingual proposals.
You will be notified of your submission results, either accepted or declined.
