IMPROV FOR STORYTELLERS IN PERSON 

Location: Tarragon Theatre Studio, 30 Bridgman Ave, Toronto, ON

Course Fee: $101.70 ($90.00 + HST )

This two-session workshop will focus on guided improv exercises to help you build confidence in your storytelling ability and loosen your inhibitions. Through a variety of interactive games and exercises, you'll gain inspiration to be more spontaneous, find your authentic voice, and as a result, develop a deeper connection with any story, personal or traditional, that you choose to work on in future.  You’ll learn how to take risks and fail--but gracefully, and with wild abandon. TRANSFORMATIONS IN PERSON

This course offers participants techniques to take a story based on a transformative personal experience, and craft it into a polished performance piece. The five-week interactive class offers an opportunity for participants to take an anecdote or memory and learn how to shape it and give it the power it deserves. The course will end with a final concert where participants will share their stories with one another and also their invited guests. Are you a story lover and listener who needs a little encouragement to become a storyteller? With 40 years of experience, Marylyn Peringer will lead you through riddles, rhymes and personal stories into the realm of traditional folktales, a perfect model for all kinds of storytelling. You'll choose a folktale from the material supplied by the instructor and learn it through a series of interactive partnered activities designed to deepen the connection between the teller and the story. Storytelling is an art form, and storytellers develop their art over all the years they tell stories. This course offers experienced tellers a chance to work on a challenging story with other alike tellers. The story may be  traditional, contemporary or personal. The story may be  traditional, contemporary or personal. Participants will come to the course with a story (or possibly two) with the clear intention to work through their story – responding to and discussing it – with other participants under the guidance of Master Storyteller Celia Lottridge. The course will culminate in a Gala Concert with an invited audience.
