New Wyatt Heritage Properties Inc. Radio Dramas Now Available Online
SC-CC Storytellers experienced the radio drama process at the conference last year and it was truly inspiring!
————————————–
Wyatt Heritage Properties Inc. has five new radio dramas online. They were recorded in October as part of the Island Storytelling Festival: New Waves. They feature five Island nurses who served in World War One. Many Island nurses served in the war, but never received much recognition for their service to king and country. In 2014, the 100thanniversary of the start of the war, Islander Katherine Dewar, wrote the book, Those Splendid Girls, which tells their stories. She allowed Wyatt Heritage Properties Inc. to use her research for the writing of the dramas.
Local volunteer voice actors and foleys were used to record the dramas which can be heard by going to www.wyattheritagepropertiesinc.com or www.culturesummerside.com and pressing on the YouTube icon. The titles of the dramas are: Wounded in War, Lost at Sea, Confronting Shell Shock, John McCrae’s Special Nurse, and Conditions at Salonika. The funding for the project came from Canadian Heritage, PEI Tourism and Culture, as well as the City of Summerside. The new dramas join the ever growing library of radio dramas produced by Wyatt Heritage Properties Inc. and Culture Summerside. The dramas are based on true Island stories researched through the MacNaught History Centre and Archives. The radio dramas are created by and for the community.
Take a listen and discover this fun way to bring history alive through the arts. Your listening ear will assist in securing future funding to do projects such as this.
