CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR WORKSHOPS

2017 Storytellers of Canada-Conteurs du Canada [SCCC] Conference

The 2017 SCCC Conference Committee is now accepting submissions for both the Master Class that will be held on Monday/Tuesday, May 22/23, 2017 and 6 – 1 ½ hour workshops,  and 3 – 3 hour workshops to be held on Thursday/Friday, May 25/26.  Those in professional standing in their fields whether members of SCCC or not may apply.

The 2017 SCCC Conference ‘150 Golden Threads’ is themed to go along with Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations.  It is focusing on what and how it was and is to build a nation.  They would like to offer sessions to participants and the general public with emphasis on this theme although areas that interested instructors excel in, that do not follow the theme, will also be seriously considered.

Definition of a MASTER CLASS - A master class is a class given to students of a particular discipline by an expert of that discipline, any of the arts,  where skills are being developed.  A master class is an instructional class given to advanced or extremely gifted students by a master that is known and revered in that particular field.  In a master class, the students are coached on performing techniques and stage presence to add polish and help you with a possible professional career. The Master Class is directed at experienced tellers and is expected to run for 2 – 6 hour days with a total of 12 hours of class time.

The Master Class is a self-contained element of the conference:  instructional fees, supplies, room rental and all other costs associated with it will reflect in the registration costs for individual participants for the class.  Both individual or team applications are acceptable.

Professional Developmental Workshops will be given an instructional fee of $250.00 for the 1 ½ hour sessions and a $500.00 fee for the 3 hour sessions.

Participants of the conference will be offered a choice of 6 – 1 ½ hour workshops that will have 3 running for the first part of the afternoon and another 3 running for the last part of the afternoon, allowing individuals to have 2 PDs during the day.  The other PD day will have the 3 – 3 hour workshops running at the same time, giving the participants the opportunity to choose 1 session.  Every SCCC registrator will have a minimum of 3 PD workshops available to them, as clearly requested from members as a priority for conferences.
