1001 Friday Nights of Storytelling – Celebrating 40 Years
Friday, May 25, at 7:30 PM – 10 PM
Innis Town Hall,
2 Sussex Ave.
For forty years, story lovers have been gathering every Friday night to share to tales of all kinds: tall, true, folk, fairy, sacred, profane, spoken and sung. The only rule is No Reading Allowed.
Every single week, regardless of season, holidays, changes of government, triumphs or tragedies, or stern weather advisories, we have told and we have listened. This has earned 1001 Friday Nights the title of North America’s longest-running story telling open mic. Our freestyle format has resulted in the perpetual delight of never knowing what we might hear.
On Friday, May 25th, we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. Hosted by Dan Yashinsky, who started it all 40 years ago, we will be honouring those who were there at the beginning, remembering those who are no longer here, and beaming over brand-new tellers who are taking up the Talking Stick.
The event takes place in Innis Town Hall, right next to our usual spot. We will be beginning at 7:30 p.m. — an early start time to ensure that many stories are told. Admission is $5. There will be a break with light refreshments.
