MC1: Noa Baum- Stories Old and New: A Path to Healing and Resilience

Interweaving traditional and personal stories to foster connection and transformation. Traditional stories ignite our connection to self and affirm our belonging to community. Connecting our personal stories with traditional stories we can access a deeper wisdom about life. In this dynamic workshop we explore the intersection between storytelling and healing arts and learn skills to guide others in a creative and empowering experience. Through a variety of interactive exercises participants learn:

  • To tell a short traditional tale and uncover personal meaning in timeless themes & structures.

  • The universal element in their own personal story.

  • Skills to guide others in a non-threatening creative process of exploring a traditional story that leads to insight, resilience, and transformation.

MC2: Loren Niemi & Elizabeth Ellis- Inviting the Wolf In: Telling Difficult Stories

A difficult story is any story whose content makes it challenging to tell or difficult to hear. Told for the wrong reasons, it can be as painful for the listener as for the teller. However, told properly, a difficult story can powerfully alter not only he who tells it, but those who hear it. Stopping our ears or stilling our tongues will not make tragedy go away; rather, the first step in ending suffering is to name it for what it is.
