The 2025 Annual Conference will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at Saint Mary’s University (SMU).
I. Transportation to Halifax
By Plane:
to Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), Halifax
fly with Air Canada, Westjet, or Porter
By Train:
to Halifax Train Station
ride with Via Rail from Montreal
By Vehicle:
follow the Trans Canada Highway to Truro, Nova Scotia and take the Halifax Exit (note the ‘Only Exit to Halifax’ sign at exit 15)
II. Transportation to Saint Mary’s University
From The Airport:
By Car: (about 40 kms from the airport to Saint Mary's University - about 40 minutes)
Follow the signs at the airport which direct you to Highway 102 South (Exit 6) and Halifax.
Once on Highway 102 South, stay in the right lane. You will come to a fork in the Highway at Exit 5 - stay to the right and continue along the 102 (do not take the exit to Dartmouth).
Continue along Highway 102 until it ends. It becomes Bayers Road in Halifax. Be careful as you enter the city; the speed limit drops to 70 km/hr and then to 50 km/hr.
Just past the Halifax Shopping Centre, turn right on Connaught Avenue.
Continue along Connaught until you reach the end of the street. Turn left on Jubilee Road.
Continue along Jubilee until you reach Robie Street, where you will turn right.
Take Robie to Inglis Street. Saint Mary's University will be in front of you on the left.
NB: You can also take a route from the airport through Dartmouth and across the bridge. Use a map app for precise directions. Both ways, via Halifax or Dartmouth, take about the same time - about 30-40 mins depending on traffic.

The Maritime Bus is 40 mins direct from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Halifax Bus Terminal/ Train Station at 1161 Hollis Street

Once at the Halifax Bus Terminal/ Train Station, you can catch the #29 bus at the Water Street Terminal. Here’s the schedule. Get off the bus when it makes a loop on Tower Road (Point Pleasant Park/ Tower Rd. Turning Loop), and walk about 5 mins to 5907 Gorsebrook Avenue, where the SMU Residence Office is located. Here’s a map of the route. Fare for the #29 bus is:
Adults: $3 cash
Seniors (65+): $2.25 cash

The Halifax Transit Regional Express 320 route provides public transit service between Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Downtown Halifax (Scotia Square). Be sure to ask for a transfer!
Once in Downtown Halifax, you can get a #10 bus from Scotia Square to Saint Mary’s University. Use your #320 bus transfer to board. Get off at Inglis Street before Robie Street (stop #2322). From there, it’s about an 8 minute walk to 5907 Gorsebrook Avenue, where the SMU Residence Office is located. Here’s a map of the route you’ll walk from the bus stop.

Taxis from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Saint Mary’s University (Residence Office, 5907 Gorsebrook Ave.) are about $70 - $90; the ride is about 26 minutes

From Elsewhere in Canada by Car:
Follow the Trans-Canada (NS Highway 104) from New Brunswick.
Take Exit #15 to get on Highway 102 South (careful, this is the only exit to Halifax).
Continue along Highway 102 until it ends. It’s a pleasant drive of about 100 km or 1 hour. Highway 102 becomes Bayers Road in Halifax. Be careful as you enter the city - the speed limit drops to 70 km/hr and then to 50 km/hr.
