MC 1 | Mariella Bertelli- Creating and Shaping Family Stories: finding and weaving the thread
Language: English
Level: All levels
In this workshop we will explore and work on threads of personal or family stories to develop a narrative. We will work in pairs or small groups and share in the wider circles. We will talk about elements and techniques that help to create and shape the story. The workshop is part active participation and part demonstration.
WAITLIST! MC2 | Stéphanie Bénéteau - Take off your skin, says the old lady! 'Undressing' and 'redressing' an oral story
Language: French
Level: Advanced
Have you ever heard about Jack, a lazy and disobedient child who ends up, soaked and freezing, in the house of an old lady? She orders him to take off his boots, then his socks and his clothes... and then, his skin, his flesh and his bones, which she folds and neatly puts in a pile next to the fire, with the skull atop it. It's exactly the same with stories. They come from written sources that are often dated and obsolete. Our job is to take off the boots, the socks, the skin and the flesh to get to the bones… thus allowing us to 'rebuild' the lazy child and make him into a competent adult. Similarly, we can transform old stories into modern tales.
