1A | Louise Profeit LeBlanc - Water, Fire, Air and Earth
Language: English
Level: All levels
Allow yourself to be guided by the wisdom of an Indigenous elder as Louise tells of the teachings she has learned from family, ancestors and earth. A member of the Nacho N’yak Dän First Nation, Louise has been learning heart-centred stories since childhood.
1B | Dawne McFarlane- Telling With Trees
Language: English
Level: All Levels
Long ago we humans were forest dwellers. We reared our young in woodland glades. Here were our sacred places- places where we lived, loved, and shared our stories. In this workshop we'll explore trees as sources and resources for storytelling in new ways. We'll create original story seeds of trees we notice and love, and reflect on possibilities for telling stories outdoors with trees in urban and wild areas. The exercises we will use can become tools for participants who want to use them to work with children and adults to create stories of trees.
1C | Éric Gauthier - La forme des histoires
Language: French
Level: Intermediate
—— Set 2 | 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm ——
2A | Éric Gauthier - The shape of stories
Language: English
Level: Intermediate
Whether writing a new tale or adapting an old one, thinking about it in terms of structure is always beneficial. How to achieve a coherence flow? How much of the story should be devoted to contextualization, to each of the twists and turns, then to the conclusion of it all? How to go from characters to emotions, to what is at stake? We will explore traditional structures, as well as innovative formal games which can be used in storytelling, and we will see how working on the structure of a story can make it easier to memorize.
2B | Kesha Christie - Storytelling for Harmony: Finding Common Ground
Language: English
Level: Intermediate
In an era marked by diversity and interconnectedness, storytelling serves as a powerful tool to bridge cultural divides and foster profound understanding among communities. In this intermediate-level workshop, participants will embark on a transformative journey guided by the renowned storyteller Kesha Christie. Together, we will explore the boundless potential of storytelling in promoting harmony and unity.
2C | Delphine Machon - Harmony between storytelling and sciences
Language: French
Level: All levels
"What words should be spread for the gardens of the world to become fertile again?"
- Jeanine Salesse.
We live in changing and challenging times. As storytellers, our words matter, as we have the ability to tell eye-opening stories with emotion, thus encouraging people to think critically and to take action. Delphine Machon will present her narrative change approach (as demonstrated by her storytelling and science show), and will talk about how storytelling can be associated with other art forms or fields of thought. There truly are wonders at the crossroads of science and traditional storytelling...
