University of Toronto Press 2009 - reviewed by Carol Leigh Wehking The Second Story Review was a quarterly review of storytelling resources which was written by Mary-Eileen McClear from 1996 through 1998. It was the only publication at the time which was devoted entirely to storytelling materials. Almost 250 books and recordings were reviewed in the twelve issues. The subscribers, over 90 of them, came from all of the Canadian provinces except PEI, twelve States in the U.S., and Australia. When Mary-Eileen ended publication to have more time to devote to her telling, she received dozens of letters from subscribers expressing their appreciation for the Review, and their regret at its end. Many of items reviewed were or became classics in the field. Unsigned reviews are written by Mary-Eileen. Aug 4, 2010
