2017 Toronto Storytelling Festival - Call for Stories
Call for Stories //
Invitation to the 2017 Toronto Storytelling Festival

Dear Members of Storytelling Toronto,

The 2017 Toronto Storytelling Festival runs March 24 – April 2.

The first two days are dedicated to Storyfire, which is a celebration of community storytelling, giving storytellers the opportunity to produce their own show as part of the larger festival. Sunday, March 26 is a day of storytelling at the Gladstone Hotel.  The day at the Gladstone is a series of sets chosen from proposals.  The curators of the 2017 Gladstone program are Celia Lottridge, Donna Dudinsky, and Mariella Bertelli.
Storyfire Deadline: November 1, 2016
To ensure a place in the print programme, please send in a program description and artists’ photographs by the deadline. Please note that the festival will continue to accept Storyfire program descriptions for our website only up to Jan.1, 2017.

Gladstone Proposals Deadline:  October 1, 2016
The Gladstone event will run from 1 pm – 7 pm in the Ballroom and the Melody Bar. The program is intended for adult audiences. As in previous years, we are looking for short (up to 25 minutes) and long (up to 55 minute) sets.  They can be solo or ensembles.  They can involve music, dance, visuals, etc.  The festival pays an honorarium based on the Canada Council for the Arts suggested rate for professional literary artists presenting at literary festivals.

NB:  I will be hosting 2 performance studios in the lead-up to the festival, and they are open to anyone telling at Storyfire events and the Gladstone.  I am also happy to work with you individually.

You can find a link to the submission proposal form below.
We look forward to your proposals.

- Dan Yashinsky
Director, 2017 Toronto Storytelling Festival
