The Alberta League Encouraging Storytelling (T.A.L.E.S.) Edmonton Chapter
**Say It Through Story**
TALES Edmonton is a chapter of The Alberta League Encouraging Storytelling. We welcome anyone interested in storytelling—experienced or beginning tellers, or those who just want to listen. We host a regular Tellaround (story circle) on the second Monday of each month, September – June, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., at the Parkallen Community League, 6510 – 111 Street. (Ample parking available; the League building is accessible by bus #9: get off at 109 Street and 65 Avenue, then walk 2 blocks west.)
TALES Edmonton originated the TALES Fort Edmonton Storytelling Festival in 1988, and, in cooperation with Fort Edmonton, supplied the majority of the volunteer to organise and run it every year since. The 25th Anniversary 2013 Festival will be held September 1 – 2 at Fort Edmonton. We welcome any volunteers who wish to help produce this Festival. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
TALES Edmonton offers public concerts and workshops. We work in partnership with other arts and heritage groups in the city, most recently with The Edmonton Art Gallery, the Provincial Archives of Alberta, and the Famous Five Association. We offer central access for people wishing to book storytellers (contact email@example.com)
Two of our members have been chosen to record for Storytellers of Canada – Conteurs du Canada’s StorySave Project. One has received a Mayor’s Salute to Excellence Performance Award for Arts and Culture. Several have published books, stories, and poetry and/or recorded CDs.
