For over 40 years, Rick Scott has travelled the globe with his unique combination of music, humour and compassion for all ages. Singer, songwriter, raconteur, and dulcimer ace, Rick pioneered Canadian root music in the '70s with BC folk trio Pied Pumkin. A natural story teller and prolific songwriter, he went on to a colourful career as actor, musician and award winning family entertainer, performing in nine countries and releasing 18 recordings. His eight children's albums have been honoured with three Juno nominations and Canadian Folk Music, Parents' Choice, NAPPA Gold and Children's Music Web Awards. He is Goodwill Ambassador for the Down Syndrome Research Foundation.
In Fall 2012 Rick released 'The Great Gazzoon - A Tall Tale with Tunes and Turbulence', a 4 CD musical audio novel, co-written and produced by Valley Hennell and illustrated by Linda Sanborn. The story unfolds in narration, dialogue, poetry, music and lyrics, animated by Rick and 25 actors, singers and musicians. The project received funding assistance from The Canada Council and FACTOR. It was honoured with 2012 Parents' Choice Approved and Family Choice Awards and is a finalist in the 2013 Audie Awards to be held in New York in May. 'The Great Gazzoon' is included in the Canadian Children's Book Centre's Spring 2013 Best Books for Kids & Teens.
